Road Trip- Isle of Wight

We seem to have morphed into this family that does things on the whim. We talked and talked about what to do for Spring Break and everything fell through so we decided to take our first road trip in the Mom Van to a place I've always wanted to go--The Isle of Wight. It was A-M-A-Z-I-N-G. If I lived here permanently I would get a vacation home there and it would be our family getaway. It was beautiful and there was so much to do. Can't wait to go back!
All ready to load up
Slicked and ready to go, too!
Buckled and ready to roll.  And so began our nonstop sing-a-long with the Frozen Soundtrack.
"Let's Go already!"
We had to take a ferry to the island....it was only 45 minutes.
Joziah's first boat ride
Momma and her girl
We went to explore the ferry....it was WINDY

We arrived at our awesome flat.....this was the Master Bedroom
Living room

Bedroom 2
Super fab bathroom
Bella's bedroom
View from our huge deck
The flat was on top of a lovely restaurant so we went in straight away and had a lovely meal.  Joziah enjoyed his beads.

Yummy

View from the street...our flat was the second floor
Had to visit the cheesy boardwalk arcade

Isle of Wight is actually home of the Dinosaurs so we went to the Dinosaur Isle to learn about which dinosaurs actually roamed the Isle.  You can book a fossil hunt right on the beach.

They have excavations there all the time and they share what they find.

Bella checked it all out

Look how big it is!
Joziah still enjoying those beads from the day before

There were a few hands on things
"Ahhh, it's a dinosaur!"
Next stop: LUNCH

The only girl I know who loves to do Math workbooks on a vacay.....despite what y'all think, I had NOTHING to do with it!  That's just how she rolls!
While this one just chills.
Joziah LOVED being in this HUGE tub!  He was quite proud.
Sunset from our room

Although it was windy, Bella begged to go out to the beach so we got Joziah dressed for his FIRST beach outing!
Sunny but windy.  "No, mom, I am not cold" (as her teach chatter)
Joziah never even made it out to the beach because it was too cold.

Practicing a few skills
We then went for a ride through some villages and found the quaint village of Shanklin. We stopped at this cute tea room for a scrumptious lunch.

Read to get their grub on

This was such a cute village

We walked along one of the seaview routes

We found a old candy shop and Bella had to try the Isle of Wight Rock Candy.  The shop was bright pink and Bella said to Joziah, "The Pink Shop, The Pink Shop". To this day, when she says that he smiles.
Right up the road was a park that I took Bella to.  She loves the monkey bars.

There was also a indoor swimming pool across the street that we went to.

The next day we went to Blackgang Chine which is a theme park, but not many rides....more like themed areas to check out.  But, it overlooks the water on a cliff so you get a great view while you have fun with the kids.

There was a shrub maze
Joziah is such a good boy...he just chills

Views from the park

Checking out the views from the telescope
There was a nursery rhyme section
My little Einstein reads everything.  This was the Little Old Woman who Lived in a Shoe.

Little Piggy

A beautiful garden
LUNCH TIME- First French fry---not impressed
Onto the Dinosaur Section. All of the dinosaurs were animated.

The wind really messed up his hair...ha!

I told Bella to sit on this bench for a picture and these gnomes started talking...she was outta there.
Always gotta end with some ice cream.  Again, it's how the Briggs roll.
Bella begged for the beach again, so finally Joziah made his debut....notice the sweatshirt!

Just lovin her some beach
The next day we went to Needles Park which was at the south western point of the island.  It's a little park with rides and shops overlooking Needles Points.  You can take a lift down to the beach from the cliff but it was malfunctioning so we didn't get to go down.

There was a clown that roamed around making balloons for kids and showing a little puppet show

The cliffs boast various colors of natural sand.  So, you can buy a shaped vase and fill it with different layers of sand.  Bella chose a bell.

All done

Once you finish you take it up and they add water to make it vibrant and seal it up.

The beautiful view

And once again......ice cream!
They had a 4D 30 minute movie.  Water sprayed at you and the ground shook.  Bella DID NOT enjoy that part at all.

Can't pass up a carousel ride
View of the hills around the park
The last day!
The little model in front of our flat
Just a little shot before we got on the ferry.  Bye-bye Isle of Wight, we will see you SOON!
