Arizona Christmas 2016: Giving Back

For years I have wanted to do something for the local community at Christmas, but have never put it together.  But, prior to coming to Arizona for Christmas, I begged my mom to make something happen this time.   As it turns out, her church feeds a homeless and low income community on Tuesdays and Thursdays.  A local culinary school makes the hot meals and then the meals are supplemented with items from the Food Bank.  So, we signed our family up for the Tuesday before Christmas.  We were so excited.

As it turned out, the evening was a blessing and a highlight for our family.  Everyone had an important part.   My aunts gave out the meal tickets.  Curtis and Tom served the entree.  Mom and I rolled napkins and cutlery.  We all put out desserts.  Sissy and Bella helped serve those who wanted seconds.  And Joziah played his tablet in the corner for moral support!

Since it was inappropriate to take pictures, I don't have any but I wanted this little memory to be in the blog. Bella said it was the best part of Christmas.   I pray that we are able to make this a tradition and that it instills a sense of compassion and a heart of service within my kids' hearts.
