When I was a kid all I wanted for Christmas was an overhead projector. Fast Forward 35 years...............
Bella- Mom, can I get an ELMO? (which is the 21st century version of an overhead)
Me- Ha, I wanted an overhead projector when I was your age, too.
Bella- What's an overhead projector?
Me- (Laughing) It's like an ELMO only you have to use transparencies and special pens.
Bella- What is a transparency?
Me- Its like a clear piece of paper. You have to copy your papers onto transparencies before you can show it on the screen.
Bella- Oh. (not too impressed)
So I decided to take a trip to supply and see if we had one hanging around. Lo and behold, we did and so I got to borrow one for home so Bella could play school. I was even able to muster up a box of transparencies and an unused box of Vis a Vis pens.
When she turned it on she said, "I'm surprised you aren't blind, this light is too bright."
She used it a few times, but is over it. She thinks cleaning the transparencies is way too labor intensive and the light is blinding. Man, she just doesn't get how lucky she is.
All I know, is I finally have one!
Moral of this story: Don't ever give up on your dreams!
